How to use this tool

Check whether your planned bike route crosses active CDOT construction zones.

1

Load your GPX route

Click the map drop zone or drag a .gpx file onto it. GPX files can be exported from:

Track points, route points, and waypoints are all supported.

2

Load CDOT construction data

Two options — pick whichever works:

  • URL tab: paste a direct link to a WZDx 4.x or GeoJSON feed and click Fetch & Analyze. The server must allow cross-origin requests (CORS). Try cotrip.org or data.colorado.gov to find CDOT feeds.
  • File tab: download a construction dataset (GeoJSON or WZDx .json) to your computer, then drop or browse for it here. Use this if the URL fetch is blocked by CORS.
3

Adjust settings (optional)

  • Buffer distance — how close (in meters) a construction zone must be to your route to count as a conflict. Default is 200 m. Lower values flag only direct overlaps; higher values catch nearby hazards.
  • Active on date — filter to zones that are scheduled to be active on a specific date. Leave blank to show all zones regardless of date.

Changing either setting immediately re-runs the analysis.
